Terms of Service

Agreement

These Terms govern use of Community Calendar. By accessing the service, creating an account, logging in through an external provider, submitting an event, or otherwise using Community Calendar, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Who may use the service

You must be at least 13 years old to create or use a Community Calendar account. If the law where you live requires a higher age or parental permission for an online service, you must satisfy that requirement. The service is not directed to children under 13.

You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless prohibited by law.

Purpose of Community Calendar

Community Calendar is intended to help people discover and share genuine public community events. It is not an official government calendar, emergency-notification system, ticket seller, venue operator, or guarantee that an event will occur as listed.

Event submissions

When you submit an event, you represent that you have a reasonable basis to publish the information and any artwork you provide. You are responsible for the accuracy of event dates, times, locations, descriptions, public contact information, links, images, and other submitted material.

Event submissions may be reviewed, edited by their owner, rejected, unpublished, cancelled, or removed under the service's moderation rules. Publication does not mean Community Calendar endorses an event, organizer, message, business, church, political viewpoint, fundraiser, product, or service.

Public information

Published events are public. Information placed in event titles, descriptions, locations, artwork, or public contact fields may be viewed by anyone and may be copied, cached, indexed, linked to, or archived outside Community Calendar. Do not submit private information about yourself or another person unless you have authority to make it public.

Acceptable use

You may not use Community Calendar to:

• break applicable law or encourage unlawful conduct;
• impersonate another person or organization or materially misrepresent an event;
• post content you do not have the right to publish;
• publish private, confidential, or sensitive personal information without proper authorization;
• harass, threaten, defame, exploit, or endanger another person;
• distribute malware, malicious code, credential-stealing material, or harmful automated requests;
• circumvent authentication, authorization, moderation, rate limits, security controls, or access restrictions;
• scrape, overload, disrupt, reverse engineer, or interfere with the service in a manner that harms the service or its users, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by law;
• use API keys or automated tools beyond their approved scope; or
• submit spam, fabricated events, or advertisements that are not tied to a genuine scheduled community event.

Your content and permission to display it

You retain whatever rights you lawfully hold in content you submit. By submitting content to Community Calendar, you grant Community Calendar a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, resize, format, display, distribute, and otherwise use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, moderate, promote, archive, and provide the event-calendar service.

This license ends when the content is removed from active service, except for copies reasonably retained in backups, security records, audit history, or other records that must or may lawfully be retained.

Third-party services and links

Community Calendar may connect to or link to services operated by Meta/Facebook, Google, Microsoft, GitHub, event organizers, venues, ticket sellers, and other third parties. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. Community Calendar is not responsible for third-party websites, transactions, content, security, availability, or conduct.

Calendar exports and imports

ICS, Google Calendar, and Outlook features are conveniences. You are responsible for reviewing imported or exported information before relying on it. Third-party calendars may interpret time zones, recurrence, links, or other fields differently.

Accounts, moderation, and termination

We may disable or delete accounts, revoke API keys, reject or remove events, or restrict access when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users or the service, comply with law, prevent abuse, or preserve system integrity. We may take emergency action without advance notice when delay could create security, legal, or safety risk.

You may request account deletion as described on the Data Deletion page.

Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, discontinue, repair, or update the service at any time. We try to preserve data and availability, but no uninterrupted or error-free operation is promised. Features that depend on third-party providers may stop working if those providers change APIs, permissions, pricing, policies, or availability.

No warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Community Calendar is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. We do not warrant that event information is complete, current, accurate, safe, lawful, or suitable for any particular purpose. Always confirm important event details with the organizer or venue.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Community Calendar and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, missed events, third-party conduct, or losses arising from reliance on event listings or external services. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, if your unlawful conduct, unauthorized content, infringement, or material violation of these Terms causes a third-party claim against Community Calendar or its operator, you agree to be responsible for resulting reasonable losses, liabilities, and costs. This section does not apply where prohibited by law.

Privacy and security

Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy. No security system is perfect. You agree to notify us promptly if you reasonably believe your account or an API key has been compromised.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas and applicable federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where another jurisdiction's law must apply and cannot lawfully be waived.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the service or law changes. Material changes should be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
